I have found the Mauldin police to be responsive, friendly and professional in numerous situations. When personal property was stolen from my vehicle they investigated thoroughly. They patrol my neighborhood and respond to incidents quickly and courteously. I have nothing but high praise for these people and the work they do protecting this community.
A little smile or softer tone would be really nice! My wife and I (baby boomers from Tennessee) met my cousin and her husband (baby boomers from Northern Virginia), and their graduate student son in Maudlin to see the total eclipse. We innocently drove to the back of the High School to sit in the stands, a nice open space to view the eclipse. A cruiser with a male officer driving and a female in the passenger seat gave us a very stern warning that we were trespassing and could not walk to the field and stands, that the random public could not be in the proximity of the kids (school registration was ongoing). I had no problem leaving, no problem following the police directions etc but really did they have to act so annoyed and so super official with us? We are very non-threatening people. It is really a shame the police cannot exercise the judgment to see we are mature tax-paying adults wanting to watch the sun's eclipse and if we are not allowed at the HS we would gladly go elsewhere. We went to a nearby park and watched there. Try a touch of compassion next time!!
We were involved in a minor traffic accident, the person left the scene, but Mauldin Police were able to track down this individual and they were just so wonderful. And the best part is they invited my daughter to come to the station to visit with the k-9, and she is really looking forward to it and so am I!
Staying at Days Inn in Mauldin (USSA baseball tournament) called Mauldin (SC) Police for overwhelming marijuwana smell in hotel - Police arrived quickly and did nothing - leaving almost immediately resoundingly leaving small children to suffer the pungent smell of an intoxicating odor. LIVE PD was in Greenville tonighy, my son prayed a responsible officer would respond...No such luck for the children....
I had someone try and steal either my air conditioning unit or the copper and my friend called the police. They were here in minutes. Pretty pleased except one cop asked me why I was nervous. I'm handicapped and I fear that someone will easily be able to hurt me. I didn't do anything wrong. They asked if I had a gun on me. Uh, no. If I had a gun I wouldn't have called. They inspected my husband's gun and I have no idea why. Whatever, the guy ran and he didn't get anything. No one was hurt so I guess it was a success.
